Marc Webb Says The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Doesn't Have Too Many Villains

This upcoming Spider-Man movie has so far confirmed Electro, Rhino, Green Goblin, and teased Dr. Octopus, Vulture and the Sinister Six, whose presence makes this movie very, very villain heavy, in comparison to other Spider-Man movies. In an interview to THR, director Marc Webb revealed that this many villains won’t hurt the story and that Paul Giamatti’s Rhino actually only has four minutes of screentime.

"We're obviously familiar with the complaints people had," he said. "We're very careful to make sure the stories intertwine. For Peter Parker, it's very important that you create obstacles that are difficult to overcome… I'm going to embrace the spectacle. I'm not going to be beholden to smallness. I want it to be fantastic, to be big, to command and express that feeling when you're a kid and reading the comics."

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy), Chris Cooper (Norman Osborne), Jamie Fox (Electro), Dane DeHaan (Harry Osborn), Paul Giamatti (Rhino), Sally Field (Aunt May), Martin Sheen (Uncle Ben), Colm Feore (Donald Menken), B.J. Novak (Alistair Smythe), Brian Haley (Phil Watson), Martin Csokas (Dr. Kafka), Felicity Jones and opens on May 2nd, 2014.
