Variety is reporting that Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer is currently in talks to helm The Idolmaker remake, which already has Justin Timberlake as producer. Brewer comes in to replace Ryan Gosling, who was initially attached to star and direct the remake of Taylor Hackford’s 1980 musical drama about a songwriter and manager searching for “the next big thing”. The original film stared Ray Sharkey and was based on the life of manager and promoter Bob Marcucci.
