So far one of the biggest complaints
fans(our too) make regarding the masterfully planned Marvel Cinematic Universe
is the lack of substantial female heroes and villains and most importantly the
yet unrevealed plans for a standalone female feature film.
There have been a lot of talk
about a Black Widow standalone movie, but nothing in concrete has been
announced, and now Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige hints at the possibility
of making Captain Marvel or Ms. Marvel as their first ever female standalone
film.
In an interview to Badass Digest,
Feige says that we would prefer to start from zero with a new character then
grabbing an existing one, i.e. Black Widow.
"Frankly if we do a Black
Widow movie after Age of Ultron, when she’s been central in three or four
movies I don’t think we’d get the quote unquote credit for it. People would say
‘She’s already a big giant superhero!’ But if we had a great idea, we’d do
it....I like the idea if we’re going to do a [female lead] do a new one. Do a
wholly new character, do an origin story."
When asked about Captain Marvel
or Ms. Marvel, Feige said that doing a Captain Marvel movie would be cool.
"We’ve talked a lot about
[Captain Marvel]. I think that would be very cool."
What female superhero would you
like to see on the big screen?
