According to HV, director Ron
Howard is currently in talks to replace director Alejandro González Iñarritu in
the upcoming The Jungle Book, merely a month after he stepped down from the
project. Warner Bros. is in a hurry to get the adaption of Rudyard Kipling’s
book of the ground as Disney is already hard at work with director Jon Favreau at
the helm, with a 2015 release date already set. If Howard signs on, he will
also be producing alongside Steve Kloves, who wrote all but one of the Harry
Potter screenplays and his daughter Callie Kloves who wrote The Jungle Book
adaptation.
It’s unclear if The Jungle Book
will be Howard’s next project as he is currently finishing his historical drama
Heart of the Sea and already has lined up the adaptation of Dan Brown’s Inferno
and Mena.
