It was rumored back in September that actor Freddie Prinze Jr. was in talks to voice a character of the upcoming Star Wars Rebels, now Lucasfilm announces that the actor will be providing the voice of Kanan, who is described as being a “Cowboy Jedi” who after “Order 66” in “Episode III” is not too keen on having others know he is a Jedi.
"He's been forced to shove a
massive part of his life under the bed, so to speak," said Prinze.
"Is he living a lie? At a certain point, the lie kind of becomes the reality.
And to suddenly be forced back into your Jedi ways, it'd be a bit of a
challenge for him. And pretty awesome, too, when you can see what a Jedi can
actually do."
The series is set between
Episodes VIII and IV, but closer to IV in a time where the Empire is pretty
well established and is looking to expand to the Outer Rim territories and the
beginnings of the Rebellion.
Star Wars Rebels is set to
premiere in the Fall of 2014 as an one hour special on the Disney Channel and
then as a regular series on Disney XD channels around the World.
