Sky Deutschland has announced that together with Sky Italia and BSkyB (British Sky Broadcasting) will bring the famous Italian comic book series Diabolik to television.
Created by sisters Angela and
Luciana Giussani in 1962, Diabolik is a dangerous and ruthless thief that uses
his expert skills in identity theft to change his look and identity to the ones
of his target.
“This project has the potential
to capture the imagination of our collective audiences," said Anne Mensah,
Head of Drama at BSkyB. "It is great to have found a property that each of
the broadcasters is equally as passionate about, we look forward to working
together to bring it to the screen.”
The comic series has been
previously adapted to the big screen in Mario Bava’s Danger: Diabolik. It was
also adapted to the small screen as an animated series back in 2000 and lasted
36 episodes. Lastly the comic was adapted to a video game titled Diabolik: The
Original Sin in 2009 for the Wii, PSP, PC, Nintendo DS and PS2.
At this time it’s unclear if the
show will air anywhere else besides Germany, England and Italy.
