Like it or not, the Fantastic
Four reboot is coming our way and expect it to be completely different from the
previous two films. At this point we have Miles Teller, Kit Harington, and
Richard Madden being rumored for Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara
and Saoirse Ronan rumored for Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman and Michael B.
Jordan to play Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, and now rumors put actor Josh
Gad to play Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
According to Movies, “word on Gad
comes from within casting circles close to the film”, so take it with a grain
of salt. Writer Jeremy Slater, who wrote the script for the reboot tweeted the
following after hearing the rumor.
“No idea if it’s true or not, but
I kinda like the Josh Gad casting rumor!”
“My argument has always been that
Ben is the closest thing Marvel has to a Pixar character. You need an
expressive, lovable voice.”
“And *any* actor you cast is
going to have his voice digitally lowered and modulated to match the character.
So why not go for pure talent?”
“Anyway. Ben’s my favorite
character I’ve ever written. Gad is awesome and would kill it. Hope it’s true.”
I can see Gad voicing The Thing, I’m
not so sure about him playing Ben Grimm, but who knows, well the director
knows. Upon hearing this piece of news director Josh Trank swiftly came into
action and denied the whole thing on Twitter, the same way he denied that Miles
Teller wasn’t up for a role, which ended up being confirmed, so this is either
just a rumor or Gad is really up for The Thing role and the studio is trying to
keep a lid on things.
