Adam Sandler is more known for
his family comedies, but in the past the actor as grazed the more serious drama
with movies like Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me or Funny People, and now it
seems that the actor is going to surprise us with another more dramatic role in
Tom McCarthy’s (The Station Agent) The Cobbler in which he co-stars opposite Dustin
Hoffman, Steve Buscemi, Ellen Barkin, Melonie Diaz, Method Man, and Dan
Stevens.
Sandler will play a lonely,
modern day, New York City cobbler, who feels he is going nowhere, until he
discovers a family heirloom that gives the ability to walk in another man’s
shoes, literally.
If McCarthy wasn’t the director I
would say here comes another of Sandler’s predictable comedies, but since the
director is attached to helm the project we can assume that if there are any
jokes in it, at least they will be more Grown Up.
