According to Variety Marvel seems
to like Captain America: The Winter Soldier so much that they are currently
courting co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo to return and helm the third
installment in the franchise.
Negotiations between the two parties
won’t officially begin until after the sequel opens, but it seems that both Marvel
and the Russo brothers are putting together an outline for the third film.
This morning Marvel announced
that they were going to be releasing comic prelude to Captain America: The
Winter Soldier. Written by Peter David with art by Rock-He Kim, the comic will
see Cap, Black Widow and Agent Brock “Crossbones” Rumlow going after a
mysterious Zodiac device in Chicago.
"They know what S.H.I.E.L.D.
has told them: that they're looking for the Zodiac, but they know little to nothing
about it," David said. "To the Black Widow and Rumlow, that's fine.
They're okay with doing what they're told.
Cap, however, is way more suspicious and wants a clearer idea of what's
going on, and is annoyed that S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't big on being forthcoming."
Captain America: The Winter
Soldier opens on April 4th, 2014.
