Comic book superhero costumes are hard to adapt to a live action, since most of them work just fine on the page, but unfortunately in real life, most of them fall on the ridicule (Williem Dafoe as Green Goblin in Spider-Man), so it stands to reason that wardrobe is one of the key things to get right when making a comic based movie featuring a masked superhero.
Costume designer Michael Wilkinson, who is by now
costumed to making the costumes for comic based movies like American Splendor,
300, Watchmen, Jonah Hex and Man of Steel has been working hard at the upcoming
Batman vs. Superman.
In an interview to Cinemovie.tv, Wilkinson said that they
are finalizing the costumes for the heroes since production is set begin
shortly.
"We are now in the stage where we’re refining our
designs with the last series of camera tests and doing our final tweaks in
preparation for shooting."
Wilkinson also said that in addition to making all new
costumes for Wonder Woman and Batman, he has made some "tweaks" to the Superman
costume.
Batman vs. Superman stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ben
Affleck as Batman Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence
Fishburne as Perry White and Martha Kent and will open on July 17th,
2015.
