Although the first installment in the franchise hasn’t yet opened the second and now third parts already have release dates. The second installment called Insurgent will be released on March 20th, of 2015 and the third one titled Allegiant opens on March 18th, 2016.
Allegiant is “Set in a futuristic North America where
people are divided into groups based on the traits they most value, Woodley and
James play two young people who join the “Dauntless” group, which is considered
the bravest group of people in the society.”
But the adaptations of Veronica Roth’s dystopian young
adult book series will have a bump in the road, which the studio must quickly
overcome if they are to keep with the already set scheduled. Director Neil Burger,
who is currently in post-production for Divergent, the first installment, will
leave the franchise. Variety is the one giving the report but does not specify
why the director his leaving.
Divergent stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Jai
Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Tony Goldwyn, Ashley
Judd, and Kate Winslet and is scheduled to open on March 21st, 2014.
