According to io9, Disney Animation Studios is planning
to release Moana in 2018. “The main character will be Moana Waialiki, a sea
voyaging enthusiast, and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of
navigators. When her family needs her help, she sets off on an epic journey.
The film will also include demi-gods and spirits taken from real mythology.”
Directors John Musker and Ron Clement will be taking
us “across a series of islands in the South Pacific” and io9 also reports that
the story will be set 2,000 years ago. BC adds that there might be “a Tiki
carving as a character.”
BC also says that the studio is developing “a new
style of CG that’s somewhat like but certainly not identical to the techniques
used on Paperman.”
