Anna Paquin, Aka Rogue Cut Out From X-Men: Days Of Future Past

It’s not often that we report that an actor or character has been cut from a movie; it usually is the other way around but unfortunately this time it is exactly what happened. According to director Bryan Singer, he just cut out a sequence containing Anna Paquin, aka Rogue’s only screentime, which means that she won’t appear in the film with the exception of the credits and the DVD and Blu-ray special features.

The story comes via the EW, which also reports that the sequence in question was one of the first things to be shot and involved Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Shawn Ashmore as Iceman.

Here is what Singer had to say:
“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, James Stewart, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Ellen Page), Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Nicholas Hoult and Peter Dinklage and opens on May 23rd, 2014.
