Despite only having one
superhero under its grasp (Spider-Man), Sony Pictures now thinking of
introducing other less known heroes from the Spidey universe into
their own movies, which makes some sense since the new Spider-Man
movies are coming out every two years, so it would be logical to make
an in-between movie based on other characters from the Spider-Man
universe.
According to The Wrap,
Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal told investors
that, “We are going to access Marvel’s full world of Spider-Man
characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains,”
There are a lot of
secondary characters that Sony can choose from. They can go with
Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy the daughter of a world renowned cat
burglar, who after suffering a traumatic event trains herself in
various fighting styles and acrobatics, or they can go not with Venom
(because he is a bad dude) but Anti-Venom, aka Eddie Brock (yes yes),
who after having his wife saved by Spider-Man decides to be a hero
for the homeless people of San Francisco. I don't think that making a
spin-off movie with villains is one their table and two the right
move, because they will always need Spider-Man to stop them, so it
wouldn't necessarily be a spin-off movie but just another Spider-Man
movie, although a Rated-R Carnage movie would be so cool.
What other secondary hero
from the Spider-Man universe would you like to see in a spin-off
movie, and don't forget that Avengers, X-Men, Blade, etc... can't be
chosen because they belong to other studios.
