“He
was a thrill to work with”, said Ivan Held, the president of the publisher
Putnam.
Clancy’s
more famous work are "The Hunt for Red October," Red Storm
Rising," "Patriot Games," "The Cardinal of the
Kremlin," "Clear and Present Danger," "The Sum of All
Fears," "Without Remorse," "Debt of Honor,"
"Executive Orders," "Rainbow Six," "The Bear and the
Dragon," "Red Rabbit," and "The Teeth of the Tiger." and
his next book, “Command Authority,” is planned for publication on December 3.
Among
his work some were adapted to film others to videogames. To film are the Jack
Ryan movies The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger,
and The Sum of All Fears which starred Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben
Affleck, and a new Jack Ryan movie is in the works starring Chris Pine as the
titular character.
In
the video game department, Clancy’s legacy goes from The Division, which should
come out next year, the Rainbow Six franchise, Ghost Recon, and the popular Tom
Clancy’s Splinter Cell franchise, among others.
Game
studio Ubisoft, who bought Clancy’s Red Storm Entertainment in 1996 had this to
say about his departure:

are saddened to learn of Tom Clancy’s passing and our condolences go out to his
family. Tom Clancy was an extraordinary author with a gift for creating
detailed, engrossing fictional stories that captivated audiences around the
world.
The
teams at Ubisoft, especially at the Red Storm studio, are incredibly grateful
to have collaborated with and learned from him, and we are humbled by the
opportunity to carry on part of his legacy through our properties that bear his
name.”
