Although
not exactly new news, Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been officially
announced as Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of
Ultron.
Apparently
the star was going to sign on to the project earlier, but because he will be
promoting the new Godzilla reboot when shooting for Age of Ultron begins, there
was a scheduling conflict that has now been fixed.
Johnson
won’t be the only one playing Quicksilver, since actor Evan Peters will also inhabit
the character in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, which just got its
first trailer released.
When
asked how one or more characters could live in two different universes, Kevin
Feige answered:
"There's
a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use
them with 'Avengers,' but not discuss or reference their mutant or
Magneto-related lineage. They can use them as mutants and as Magneto's
relatives, but cannot have anything to do with 'The Avengers.'"
