When
director Ridley Scott first announced that we was going to do an Alien
pseudo-sequel (I almost wish he didn’t) called Prometheus he also announced
that he was working on a sequel to his highly regarded sci-fi masterpiece Blade
Runner. These two pieces of news were enough to make tough, rough, bearded mountain
man have a single tear joy run down their tough, rough, and bearded cheeks. Well
that single tear drop turned into a river when last year it was announced that
the original Blade Runner writer, Hampton Fancher was back to write the new
screenplay, which would be set “some years” after the first film.
Since
Fancher’s return, nothing has been said about the sequel, probably because
Scott was busy with The Counselor and is now preparing his next project, the
epic Exodus, which starts filming next year with Christian Bale and Joel
Edgerton.
Despite
the lack of any official word on the project, actor Harrison Ford seems keen to
return to his role as Rick Deckard as he explains in an interview to IGN.
“Yeah,
we’ve been chatting about it… I truly admire Ridley as a man and as a director,
and I would be very happy to engage again with him in the further telling of
this story.”
