Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez is reported to be in talks with Universal Pictures to bring the Electronic Arts video game Dante’s Inferno to the big screen. The video game came out in 2010 and was based on Dante Alighieri’s 14th century epic poem Divine Comedy. For the game, Dante was re-imagined as a Knight Templar that must go through the nine circles of hell in order to reclaim the soul of his dead wife Beatrice.

Jay Basu is working on the second draft.
Alvarez
previous film was the Evil Dead remake that was offered to him by producer Sam
Raimi after he saw Alvarez’s short Panic Attack!
