In a
recent interview to Empire Magazine, Marvel’s Studio President, Kevin Feige
talked about Ronan The Accuser being the main baddie in James Gunn’s Guardians
of the Galaxy, the role that Thanos will have in the movie, and when in the
timeline of events in Marvel’s phase two does this film fit.
Regarding
Ronan The Accuser, Feige said:
“Ronan
The Accuser is very much the main bad guy. And Thanos is lurking above it all.
You will learn more about Thanos in Guardians, for sure. Certainly you’ll get
more than the one turn around and smirk. You’ll get much more than that!”
About
where does this film fit in Phase 2:
“The
general answer is yes. It’s not exactly revealed what year or month it is in
relation to the other Phase Two films. But yes, it’s the same time.”
And
how connected is this movie to the rest of Phase 2:
“Certainly
more than the others. We’ve already said that Thanos plays a part in it and is
a character in it. That in and of itself should tell you it’s connected to the
other worlds.”
Guardians of the Galaxy opens on August 1st, 2014. Can’t wait.
