With
more and more comic book adaptation being turned into feature films,
superheroes must learn how to share the same space, the problem is that because
the properties are scattered throughout different studios sometimes the heroes
that are sharing the same space are not those we are expecting.
The
Avengers were a great team up, the upcoming Batman/Superman I’m hoping it will
also be a great tem up, Fantastic Four and X-Men I have my doubts, I mean they
are just adding bodies to the mix.
When
asked about crossing the X-Men and Fantastic Four, which is currently in
development, writer and Fox’s creative consultant Mark Millar said:
“Without
question I think you have to see some of these guys showing up in each other’s
movies. I think the most exciting thing in superhero movies, until The Avengers
came along, was when Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man. Even though it was a guy
with an eye patch it was really cool – and I expect we will see more of that.”
I’m
all in favor of having heroes appearing in other franchises that are not their
own, but mixing pre-existing teams that have their own flow and chemistry seems
to me a recipe for disaster, or I just might be completely wrong.
