Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World And Guardians Of The Galaxy D23 Recap

Yesterday at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, Marvel’s Studio President Kevin Feige was introduced to the panel by Disney’s Chairman, Alan Horn. At the panel Feige talked about the upcoming sequels to Thor and Cap, and the new Guardians of the Galaxy.

At the Thor: The Dark World panel, actors Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins were on hand to present fans with two new and exclusive clips from the movie. The first clip showed Thor barging into an Asgardian battlefield and kicking some ass, while making some jokes with Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander).
The second clip shows Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) arrival in Asgard, much to Odin’s disapproval.

“Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” thundered into D23 with an introduction by its producer, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who then introduced stars Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins to the excited crowd.
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.  In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness.  Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, p.g.a., from a story by Don Payne and Robert Rodat and screenplay by Christopher L. Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery “ #83 in August, 1962. The film releases November 8, 2013.”

At the Captain America: The Winter Soldier panel, there were three clips shown. The first was of Frank Grillo, who plays Brock Rumlow, aka Crossbones fighting Cap. Guess who lost?
The second was an extended trailer and it showed a struggling Cap in amidst of a moral problem, having a talk with Robert Redford, aka Alexander Pierce about how the World is and how it should be. The there is a similar conversation with Samuel L. Jackson, aka Nick Fury. After all the talk mayhem ensues, with Cap, Black Widow and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) fighting multiple enemy’s. There is an aerial fight scene with Falcon. The trailer ended with the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) picking up a dented Captain America’s shield.
The last one was a surprise clip with Cap and Widow on a jet discussing how Cap should go on a date, after which Cap jumps into the water (without parachute), climbs on a tanker ship and kicks some major ass. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is going to focus heavily on Cap’s struggle to adapt to the new World he is living in.

“Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” stars Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie were on hand to greet the audience, which was then treated to a glimpse of Captain America in action via clips chosen especially for D23. Kevin Feige riveted the audience with details of the action-packed story’s highlights.
After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

At the end of Marvel’s panel there was time for a trailer for the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy. The trailer shows Star Lord (Chris Pratt) attempting o steal an artifact and getting interrupted by three guards, one of whom is Djimon Honsou. The trailer than goes on showing the rest of the band in their own individual fight scenes, Dave Bautista as Drax, Zoe Saldana as Gamora and Rocket Raccoon and Groot the plant type being. Both Rocket Raccoon and Groot didn’t have voices yet.
The trailer ends with Star Lord being sent to jail for listening to his tape player.
