Yesterday we posted that James Cameron had hired writer Josh Friedman to help finish the two sequels to Avatar. Now it’s being reported that Cameron hired more help to finish not two but three Avatar sequels.
Adding
to the ranks are the writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver from Rise of the
Planet of the Apes and Shane Salerno from the Savages. Cameron intends to
release Avatar 2 on December 2016, Avatar 3 on December 2017 and Avatar 4 a
year after that.
Cameron
had previously teased that Avatar 4 would be a prequel, which explores the
colonization of Pandora, but at this point it is still unknown.
Regarding
the news that he had hired more writers, Cameron had this to say;
“Building
upon the world we created with Avatar has been a rare and incredibly rewarding
experience. In writing the new films,
I’ve come to realize that Avatar’s world, story and characters have become even
richer than I anticipated, and it became apparent that two films would not be
enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen. And to help me continue
to expand this universe, I’m pleased to bring aboard Amanda, Rick, Shane and
Josh — all writers I’ve long admired - to join me in completing the films
screenplays.”
