The videogame studio Ubisoft decided some time ago that some of their most famous titles, like Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon were to turn into feature length films, but now it seems that some other titles have been chosen to be turned into film, Watch Dogs, Far Cry and Rabbids.
Ubisoft’s plans to adapt game into film seem to be
going well, with Michael Fassbender to star in Assassin’s Creed, which is set
to open on May 25th of 2015 (Memorial Day). Tom Hardy from The Dark
Knight Rises was casted for Splinter Cell and Michael Bay will be developing
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon.
According to Variety, Ubisoft is going to proceed into
phase two of their plans, regarding the adaptation of games to films, and the
studio will maintain the creative control over their projects, like choosing
the screenwriters, directors, cast, production companies, distribution, etc….
Far Cry and Rabbids are already familiar and very well
established franchise, with Watch Dogs being the only one not known, since it
will only come out this November, but Ubisoft is hoping that it will turn out a
fan favorite.
