Jonze’s Her as seen a small setback, Samantha Morton one of the main actors in
the film was cut out and replaced with Scarlett Johansson.
Her
is a sci-fi romance between a writer (Joaquin Phoenix) and his operating system
(Morton/Johansson), starring Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara,
Amy Adams, Olivia Wilde and Chris Pratt.
In
a statement to Vulture, Jonze explained that Morton was on set everyday giving
the voice to the operating system, but when time come to edit he realized that
it wasn’t what he was looking for and decided to re-record the lines with Scarlett
Johansson.
“I
think, unfortunately, it’s pretty normal in terms of my not-quite-painless-for-everyone-involved
‘process’ of discovering what the movie is.
Samantha
was with us on set and was amazing. It was only in post production, when we
started editing, that we realized that what the character/movie needed was
different from what Samantha and I had created together. So we recast and since
then Scarlett has taken over that role.
I
love Samantha. I’ve been friends with her forever and I hope we make lots of
things together in the future.
